Double sided cowhide strop, with latigo nubuck leather on backside, fixed on a fine hickory paddle. A Leather cord has been installed for easy handling and storing.
Leather: This is 100% genuine vegetable tanned cowhide leather 7oz-8oz thickness. Cowhide Leather is a classic, all purpose stropping leather.
Characteristics: This leather has a fine grit and has medium firmness.
Leather is more porous and the fibres are more widely spaced. Cowhide provides a well rounded go to leather for stropping & is perfectly suited for Sheffield Steel & Stainless Steel.
A latigo nubuck leather is used for the backside of the strop, as it outperforms the suede side of Cowhide. It has an excellent nap and smoothness resulting in a superior choice for suede stropping. Well suited for loading compound and blade cleaning.
Leather is placed on hickory slabs for its quality, weight, and stability while stropping.
All strops are 100% handmade, crafted and designed by Stroppingman in the US.
Dimensions: The strop paddle is 13"x2.5", the leather measures 10"x2.5".
Strops are designed and sized for all round use from pocket knifes to larger blades.
Leather stropping is used as a final step in the knife sharpening process and also for blade maintenance. Stropping removes the burrs left on a blade's edge while creating a mirror polish on the bevel. Using a leather strop will maintain a razor edge if used regularly.
